Alan Cluett Consulting was founded in 2010 when Alan Cluett (Pr.Sci.Nat.; FIQ; MGSSA) left the corporate world to establish an environmental consultancy utilising his more than 29 years of hands on industrial and environmental management.
In 2015, Colleen Cluett, who holds an MSc (Ecology) from the University of the Witwatersrand, and Iain Cluett, who holds a BA (Hons) in Geography, joined forces with Alan Cluett to establish Cluett Consulting.
The Team
Alan Cluett
Alan holds a B.Sc in Geology and Economics and a B.Sc. Honours in Mineral Economics. Alan commenced his working career as a geologist focusing on exploration, grade control and mine development. A stint in Industrial Engineering where experience was gained in plant design, optimisation and financing before being transferred into quarrying for seven years, where Alan gained operational experience and an Opencast Blasting Certificate. Alan was transferred back to the Corporate office to establish an environmental department in 1992 – the first of its kind in the cement, aggregate, industrial minerals and readymix industry.
In 2010 Alan took early retirement to enable him to establish Alan Cluett Consulting. In 2016 Alan joined forces with his daughter Colleen and son Iain to establish Cluett Consulting (Pty) Ltd.
Alan has expertise in a wide variety of fields including but not limited to surface mining, cement production, environmental and health and safety management, operation optimisation, cement kiln emission management, alternative fuel usage in cement kilns, waste management, training and rehabilitation of disturbed areas.
Colleen Cluett
Colleen trained as an ecologist, with field experience in landscape function analysis, land degradation and rehabilitation, participatory GIS, managing of focus groups and vegetation mapping. She hold a Master of Science Degree in Ecology from the University of the Witwatersrand. She also has experience in training, facilitation, Environmental Management Systems, Environmental Law and Environmental Management auditing.
Colleen is passionate about the natural world, sustainable living and human capital development.
